Uwe and Hannelore Romeike, along with their six children, wanted to home-school their children in Germany, but were not permitted to do so under German law. They sought and were granted political refuge in the U.S. by an immigration judge in 2010, but now the Department of Homeland Security is claiming that German laws banning homeschooling do not violate the family’s human rights.

We here at Conservative Teachers of America believe that a parent has a right to make the best decisions for their child. It is not up to the government to decide what is the best form of educational delivery. A parent in the end should be the sole decision in fact on whether or not a child is educated at home, in a private school, or in a public school.
The Obama administration is insanely out of line on this one. No one should be surprised though, it’s par for the course for them. This is just more proof that this administration despises the values that made America great. We encourage Americans to support the Romeike family.
Mercury One, Glenn Beck‘s non-profit charity, has set up a direct donation page to the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). Mercury One has already donated $50,000 from their general fund to HSLDA, and as of right now they have raised another $37,000. Conservative Teachers of America encourages you to consider supporting HSLDA by donating to the Mercury One HSLDA drive.
